Hello! Ye Old Blogger is Back and wondering when we're going to hear the last of poor Anna Nicole whoever she is. If I had a nickle for everytime I saw her name or had to listen to something about her on the news this week, I could take a trip to the bahamas! Or to Canada. Oh yeah, we need a passport to get into canada now. Forget that! This Anna Nicole thing is bigger than OJ. And I thought that was never going to end. Why don't they get this stuff off of the tv and forget about it. Or start a Jerry Springer Marathon and have all these people be guests on it. The baby daddies, and that judge, (who should be disbarred by the way) and grandma. And whoever else wants the ladies money. They can all get on there and leave the airwaves free for some interesting medicine commercials or something else of great importance that will make them some money. Can you imagine Dateline and World News tonight running this stuff. What the heck. It's going to be the next Lifetime movie..which should be out in about a week.
Leave the lady alone and let her rest in peace somewhere!
And somebody go take care of that baby.
In the meantime the senate and the house are fighting over an issue of whether or not to back the US. Troops but not the war? What?!
Ye Old Blogger signing off..

Standing in a vaccine's path
Picture this: Tomorrow, scientists announce a vaccine that all but eliminates the occurrence of lung cancer in patients, even in smokers. It's an
amazing discovery -- first of its kind in cancer treatment. Public health advocates recommend every sixth-grader in the country be given the vaccine, at an age
when many are about to start smoking.
Know this, too: The drug company whose research labs created it stands to make a great deal of money, and cigarette manufacturers are overjoyed that the development makes their product safer than ever. It can be imagined that some people would object, saying the drug provides a risk-free license to practice a dangerous, unhealthy habit. But their objections would not outmatch the immense health benefits, and the vaccine would be spread far and wide.
Know this too- I don't see one comment about the risks of the vaccine or the rights of the people involved. Who did they practice testing this vaccine on?
A similar situation now confronts us in the sexual-health arena. A vaccine that prevents human papillomavirus, or HPV, is on the shelves, and the sexually transmitted disease it prevents is a leading cause of cervical cancer in women. Public health groups, along with the drug's creator, Merck & Co., support mandatory vaccines for girls about to enter their teens, when studies show they are likely to have sex and possibly contract HPV from males who can harbor the disease without showing symptoms. Government officials in Texas, Virginia, Washington, D.C., and other places say eighth-grade girls should be vaccinated.
Because the vaccine targets a sexually transmitted disease, some socially conservative groups are up in arms. The drug encourages promiscuity, they say. It sends a signal that society condones 13-year-olds having sex; we should instead be demanding abstinence until marriage -- and making sure sex sounds as dangerous as possible. This is a spiteful objection to a major medical advancement. Social conservatives are welcome to advocate abstinence, but not at the expense of vaccines that might save lives.
Another group of HPV vaccine opponents are suspicious of Merck's big marketing push for its drug, saying there is something unseemly about governments ordering mandatory vaccinations that enrich the drug company. This objection, too, lacks real merit. When and if marketable cancer cures, AIDS vaccines, and other miracle medicines come, they will not have fallen from the sky. They will have been discovered in research labs run by drug companies or universities, and sold, without a doubt, by the companies. This is the business Big Pharma is in; they'll deliver the drugs, but they'll also get paid.
What a bunch of ... This idea has now found it's way to the do-gooder state of New York. Read the article good. I don't see one place in it where it says that they may be violating anyone's rights! See that little word MANDATORY? Why don't this government mind it's own business and let people take care of their own children. The only thing I can see in this bunch of propaganda is about how the drug companies will make money and what's new with that? We are the new test animals for these people!
Who runs this country anyways. If you see anything about this get out and vote against it. Or your kid will be in line for a shot of something.
